If you’ve read my blogs before, you know I’m not only a fashion fanatic, but a foodie as well.  Instead of making a 2013 bucket list of what you hope to accomplish this year, make a list of your Restaurant Resolutions.  In other words, the places you want to eat this year.  Places you’ve heard about, those on your wishlist, or even those you’ve already tried.  See how many establishments you can conquer this year.  In the meantime, have a look at my extensive restaurant run-down and see if some of these yummy eats are worth adding to your own list.

In no particular order whatsoever…

sirioSirio Ristorante – It just opened this past October in NYC. Indeed, it is rare to find upscale dining venue of this caliber that is available for all three- breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Named after the legendary restaurateur Sirio Maccioni of the famed Le Cirque and Circo, it’s said to be amazing.  And, as I’ve said many times, I’m a huge Le Cirque fan.  I’m dying to try their cheese fondue, made with fontina and bitto cheese, poached eggs, black truffles, and crostinis.  I’d also love to try the Asparagi con Uova Gratinati e Tartufo Nero (asparagus, fried egg gratin, black truffles); the Riso Mantecato alla Zucca, Madorle, Amaretto, e Gorgonzola (vialone nano pumpkin risotto, pignoli nuts, amaretto cookie crumbs, gorgonzola); the Pera Affogata al Cardamomo (poached pear, almond cake, cardamom gelato, zabaglione); and the Torta di Sambuca e Cioccolato Affumicato (sambuca & smoked chocolate cake, anise ice cream).

baciBaci Ristorante – Since I’ll be in San Diego this Spring, I figure it’s a great opportunity to hit up this spot.  The Linguine Mussels Genovese (made with pesto, garlic, cream and black mussels) and Penne alla Carson (made with asparagus, prosciutto, peas, and cream sauce with Parmesan cheese) look delish.  And, I wouldn’t throw the Penne Quattro Formagi, Penne alla Salmone, Tortellini con Prosciutto, Scampi Lobster, and Pork Chop alla Tartufata out of bed either.

black and blue huntingtonBlack And Blue – This fine restaurant is in Huntington, NY.  Menu items like the Lobster Crusted Atlantic Salmon with Crushed Fingerling Potatoes, Wilted Baby Spinach, and Truffle Butter Sauce; Filet and Gorgonzola Fondue; Their Mac and Cheese menu alone has me salvating.  As if having truffle mac and lobster mac wasn’t enough, they have duck mac and cheese to boot.  Um, yes please!  And if you really want to get serious, there’s the “Party In A Glass” dessert: Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry Gelato with Brownies, Banana Bread, Toffee, Marshmallows, Berries, Caramel, Peanut Butter Sauce, Chocolate Sauce, Whipped Cream and Oreo Cookies.

lukes lobsterLuke’s Lobster – Both Maryland and New York have the pleasure of housing this franchise.  As a lobster fiend, I’m down for anything in this category.  I’ve had a taste of their menu before and, as someone who’s not a big mayo fan, I love that their lobster rolls can come with or without it.  I also love that they carry Maine Root sodas.  Their sarsparilla is a favorite of my dad’s and mine.  One thing I have to get my hands on is their Lobster Grilled Cheese with Maine lobster sandwiched between two slices of organic white bread and Gruyere cheese.  The bread is Maine-made as well.  Do we notice a pattern here?

2west2 West – I was supposed to eat here months ago, but my schedule interfered.  Located at the Ritz-Carlton in Battery Park, you can dine on any meal throughout the day.  I have quite a few of their creations on my mind.  For example, their Almond Pancakes Short Stack with Caramelized Banana & Roasted Vanilla Bean Syrup and their butter-poached Lobster Bisque are screaming my name right now.

riseno1Rise No1 – Dallas has created a delicious monster with this one.  I’m definitely hoping to stop by this fab-looking place and dine on everything from their Marshmallow Soup to their Parisian Jambon Sandwich.  I also hope to sip on drinks like their Housemade Seltzer or their Chardonnay-Apricot Iced Tea.  And, for those who may need it, the restaurant can provide braille menus for their blind customers.  How fab is that?!

dakota's steakhouseDakota’s Steakhouse – While we’re talking about Dallas dining, I’m in the market for Dakota’s.  I am definitely putting the Fritto Misto (Fried Rock Shrimp, Calamari, Asparagus, Artichoke Hearts, and Saffron Aioli); Black Truffle Mac and Cheese; Atlantic Salmon with Asparagus Orzo, Saffrom Fume’, and Heirloom Tomato Jam; and Sweet Potato Roasted with a Caramelized Maple-Butter Glaze on my “to eat” list.

lavoLavo – Okay, back to the NYC scene.  When the sun goes down it’s a hot nightclub, but the dancing isn’t the only fab-ness in the building.  This Italian restaurant features items like a 16 ounce Kobe Beef Meatball, Spinach and Artichoke Brick Oven Pizza, a Margherita Salad served over a Tomato Pizza, Brick Oven Salmon Oreganato, and Truffle Parmesan Fries.  I don’t know where to start.

peking duck housePeking Duck House – Now, the one I’m talking about is the Chinatown location.  It basically has the same menu as their Midtown restaurant, but it’s a tad less expensive, which is always a plus.  I dined here a couple times before with my family when I was very young, but haven’t nailed down a time to re-visit.  This will definitely be a mission of mine this year.  Of course, you don’t have to get the Peking duck if you don’t want to, but…. why would you go to a place called the Peking Duck House and not?  For $29.00 a person, the Peking Duck Dinner includes tableside service, one peking duck and several additional entrees (depending on the number of people in your party).  You also get an appetizer, soup, and dessert.  Not a bad deal.  Oh, and it’s BYOB, which is always nice too.

taco tonto'sTaco Tonto’s – I definitely want to try the Baby Burritos here in Kent, Ohio.  Every year I visit Kent for their Homecoming since I’m a proud Alum.  This is one of the new eateries that’s popped up in Kent as they’ve been building up the area.  I’m going to go for a baby burrito with chicken, sweet potato, rice, and cheese in between all the college nostalgia.

luigi'sLuigi’s Restaurant – There are so many Luigis out there, but not like the one in downtown Akron, Ohio.  This past year I wasn’t able to stop by, but I have a good feeling about this year!  This savory spot is the epitome of Mom-and-Pop.  They take cash only, no reservations, and the line is usually out the door, but it moves pretty fast.  They are noted for their salad, which is topped with so much freshly shredded cheese that it might as well be a cheese salad… but it’s oh so good.  Whenever I go, I have to get their Pizza Bianco with tomatoes on top.  It’s not your typical white pizza and the white sauce they use is an old family recipe that they refuse to share with me.  I just wish they could send me my Bianco in NJ!  P.S. It means a lot coming from an NJ/NY resident, who speaks from the land of amazing pizza, to pay homage to this Italian gem in Ohio.

flemingsFleming’s Steakhouse - I’m sure you’ve heard of this restaurant since there are dozens of them scattered across the country.  I’m putting it on this list because I’ve yet to eat here.  Plus, their menu isn’t just like every other run-of-the-mill chain steakhouse… Fleming’s Lobster Tempura, Filet Mignon Skewers with Gorgonzola-Bacon Fondue, Lite Filet Mignon, and Pan Crisped Pork Belly all sound pretty good to me.

mt. fujiMt. Fuji Restaurant - You can pick either their NY or their NJ  location, but I hear their NY restaurant is the one to choose.  A friend of mine ate here and spoke well of it, which turned me on to the place.  It’s also a great setting for weddings, banquets, and other special occasions.  One thing that I definitely want to indulge in is their Sunday Brunch.  This gourmet brunch is $27.00 and has everything you could imagine.  Some of the choices I would like to try are the Wild, Spanish Risotto; Atlantic Salmon in a Seafood Cream Sauce; Chicken Renato with Artichokes; Texas Style French Toast; Ravioli with Lobster Sauce; and Assorted Sushi.  If the brunch isn’t your thing though, they have a regular menu, hibachi tables, and even Murder Mystery Shows.  Enjoy!

origin thaiiOrigin Thai – This French Thai fusion spot has three locations in the central Jersey area, so this is a local one for me.  I’ve never been a huge Thai person, but everyone I know who goes there raves about it.  Their Somerville menu has me curious about all their duck dishes, since duck is my weakness, but I also wouldn’t mind trying their steamed mussels, caramelized banana spring roll, and sweet potato croquettes.  And, they have a wine-poached pear on their menu!  Don’t even get me started on how much I love wine-poached pears…  As for their Morristown and Basking Ridge locations, the menus are mostly the same, but vary with a few fun surprises to change it up.

italian cucinaItalian Cucina – In New Hope, Pennsylvania, this little secret is run by the Lombardi family.  Their special meals are prepared with love and amazing service, giving each diner a family-oriented dining experience.  It’s very quaint, set in a house with just a few tables.  There’s no real menu, as the owner likes to improvise on what he wants to cook for his guests.  Truly unique.  It’s also BYOB and is basically known by word-of-mouth.  Hey, that’s how I found out about it.  I can’t wait to have a taste of Cucina!

villa by barton gThe Villa by Barton G – The restaurant inside the Versace Mansion… Yes, there is a restaurant inside the Versace Mansion in South Beach, Miami for those of you who haven’t heard yet.  The mansion also serves as a luxury hotel!  But, let’s get back to the dining room.  Choose from two pre-set menus, the chef’s tasting menu, or the general menu.  Try the Sage Roasted Farm Chicken with Sprout Spinach, Bantam Corn, Ramp, and Morel Fricassee.  However, I’m a little more excited about the Duo of Beef Rossini, which is a Wagyu Tenderloin & Black Angus Short Rib with Foie Gras, Truffled Taro, Spring Leeks, and Bing Cherry Bordelaise.  The Golden Beignets, dusted with 24 Karat Gold Leaf, with a Cinnamon Hot Chocolate-Cafe’ Foam are what really have me going gaga though.

tiger's taleTiger’s Tale - Close to Princeton, located in Skillman, NJ.  As a Princeton alum, my father, along with several other people that I know, have eaten here many times.  I still haven’t, so this is my year!  The menu isn’t anything crazy, just good, old-fashioned comfort food.  Nonetheless, it’s obviously been a huge hit for years because every time I’ve passed it, the parking lot has been packed.  Their burgers are supposed to be juicy and their sandwiches are said to be good as well.  But, I may go for their Shrimp Scampi dish because it sounds awesome with their extra large shrimp and toast points for dipping.  Yum.

randallsRandall’s on the Orchard – In Orefield, PA, this restaurant sits amidst the land’s incredible orchards.  Featuring several dining rooms, the restaurant is actually in the restored Queen Victoria Inn, with a very relaxed setting.  One reason that I want to go here is that there is a drive-in movie theatre only a couple miles from the orchard.  Another reason is the atmosphere and food selection.  I’m on-board with the Sautéed Shrimp Française appetizer, the Chilean Sea Bass Rouget, the Cedar Plank Salmon, Stuffed Tilapia, and Randall’s Combination (Lobster tail française served with petite mignon topped with mushroom cap and Béarnaise sauce).

660 anglers660 At The Angler’s Boutique Resort - It’s vintage Miami mixed with modern, in this Florida hot spot.  Whether you’re eating Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, or Dinner, their menu looks appetizing to say the least.  For their earlier meals, I’d love to try their Corn Cakes (with queso fresco, maple syrup, berries, and guava butter), Chocolate Croissants, Steak and Huevos on ciabatta bread, Hangover Beef Soup, Short Rib Benedicto on a mini Cuban roll, and the Pink Port Sangria.  As for their dinner, put the Short Rib Empanadas, Pandebonos (Colombian cheese bread with Guava butter), Duck Flatbread, Short Rib Sliders, Crispy Pork Belly, and Truffle-dusted Fries on my “to do” list.

bacon shell burger taco from pytPYT - This Philly burger joint looks insane.  With a menu that’s full of crazy combinations, I’m intrigued to say the least.  Sure, it’s not the healthiest by any means, but how can you not want to try a place that features items like these: Krispy Kreme Sliders (Three of our famous mini-beef burgers topped with chocolate-covered bacon and served on tiny Krispy Kreme donuts with fries and a spicy pickle spear.); Cheeseburger Quesadilla (Warm flour tortilla stuffed with gooey cheddar, ground beef, pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard and bacon. Served with pico de gallo and sour cream.); Lobster Burger (Surf N’ Turf! Beef patty topped with grilled lobster and truffled aioli on a Kaplan’s Bakery egg-washed roll with Old bay fries.); Lobster Crab Cake Burger (Fresh lobster and lump crab patty sauteed and topped with chopped tomato, sliced cucumbers and red onions with a fresh citrus aioli on a Kaplan’s egg-washed roll, served with Old Bay fries.); Cheesesteak Pretzel Roll Burger (It’s “Wiz Wit”. Beef patty topped with cheddar, sliced top round steak, Cheez Whiz and our roasted garlic-caramelized onion special sauce on a pretzel bun baked for us at the Philly Pretzel Factory.); Pistachio Crusted Lamb Burger (Juicy lamb burger dusted with crushed pistachios, topped with grape tomato-onion salsa and a zesty lemon aioli on a LeBus seeded bun.); Veggie Loaded Nacho Burger (Black bean patty over crisp tortillas loaded with with pepper jack cheese, olives, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, refried beans, cheez whiz and avocado crema. Served with your choice of “Taco Fries” or “Taco Tots” and spicy pickle spear.); Lobster Dog (Dog, meet lobster. All beef hot dog topped with grilled lobster on a toasted potato bun with truffle aioli, served with Old Bay fries and a spicy pickle spear.); Double Bacon Cheeseburger Soup (Creamy cheese soup with ground beef, bacon, tomatoes, onions, pickles and lettuce…finished with a drizzle of ketchup and mustard with onion rings on the side.) Bananas John Foster Shake (Vanilla ice cream, fresh banana, Sailor jerry Spiced Rum, banana liqueur & maple syrup topped with whipped cream and banana slices.); Peanut Butter Bacon Shake (Vanilla ice cream, creamy peanut butter, real bacon and vanilla vodka.); Krispy Kreme Sundae (Two mini-Krispy Kreme donuts grilled and topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, chocolate-covered bacon, whipped cream and cherries.)… Can you hear your arteries clogging??? I love that sound…

tico's eateryTico’s Eatery & Juice Bar - Located in Princeton, NJ.  Any place where you can create your own juice blend is okay in my book.  Combine any of the following: Apple, Cantaloupe, Carrot, Grapefruit, Orange Juice, Pineapple, Tomato, Watermelon, Bokchoy, Broccoli, Cabbage, Celery, Collard Greens, Fennel, Kale, Parsley, Banana, Beet, Blueberries, Celery, Coconut, Cucumber, Ginger, Grape, Kiwi, Lemon, Lime, Mango, Peaches, Pear, Strawberry, Watermelon.  I’m down for a cantaloupe/watermelon concoction, or a strawberry/peach potion, or maybe a pear juice straight up.  Aside from the juices and smoothies, you can order paninis, sandwiches, tacos, omelets, salads, wraps, and burritos to satisfy your hunger.  Their quesadillas are actually baked on flatbread, which sounds delicious!

copacabana-ny-deals-main-620Copacabana Supper Club – Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the Copacabana has re-opened, along with its ballroom in New York City.  I don’t even care what’s on the menu.  I’m going regardless.

smith wollenskySmith & Wollensky – From Vegas to Chicago to Boston to Miami to New York to Houston to Columbus to DC to Philly…. Famous for their steak and seafood, I’ve wanted to try this place ever since I heard about it in Boston.  However, I think the NY location is more within my reach.  As a filet mignon girl myself, it thrills me to see all the different combinations for their filets.  I also would love to try their Tomato Tarragon Hollandaise on their King Salmon, the Roast Beef Hash, and Lobster Cocktail.

Striphouse – With two locations in NYC and one in Las Vegas, I’ve wanted to check this place out for a striphouselittle while.  Their lobster bisque with pearl couscous, bufala mozzarella & artichoke salad, goose fat potatoes, warm garlic bread with gorgonzola fondue, maine lobster linguine in a lemon-cream and lobster bordelaise, creamed corn with pancetta, and black truffle creamed spinach all sound incredible.  They also have a 24-layer chocolate cake that serves 8-10 people and you can buy in online for $100.00.  As one of the restaurants of BR Guest Hospitality, I’m sure this place is a home-run.

natirarNatirar’s Ninety-Acres – Located in Somerset County, NJ, this venue is a culinary center, celebratory venue, and club that is set on a gorgeously restored estate.  Menu items that are catching my eye are the Pork Belly Sourdough Pizza (with farm eggs, chilies, fontina, gorgonzola, and asiago cheese), the Grilled Griggstown Quail appetizer, the Natirar Lasagne (with herb ricotta, jersey tomatoes & fresh mozzarella), the Hudson Valley Duck Breast, and the Poached King Salmon (with parsnip, vanilla, wheat berries, fennel & pollen).  I also wouldn’t mind trying the Farmer’s Pot Luck dinner that they feature on Sundays.

due mariDue Mari – I’ve eaten here many times in New Brunswick, NJ, along with their Due Terre sister spot as well.  I’m in love with all their homemade ice creams and sorbets, but that isn’t all they’re good for.  As someone who detests hummus, I am actually quite fond of their complimentary hummus and bread.  It’s delicious.  My personal fave is the Fresh Chitarra Spaghetti, Maine Lobster, Baby Shrimp, Grape Tomatoes, and Garlic dish.  Love!  As far as the sorbets and icecream I had previously mentioned, the selection changes, but if I had my way, I’d have them make their Pear sorbetti, Basil Gelatti, and Cinnamon Gelatti permanent fixtures on the menu.  What can I say?  I’m a Due Mari devotee… and the service is always stellar!

black duckBlack Duck – This NYC restaurant is one I’ve been yearning to go to for almost a year.  Their Cast Iron Chicken with braised collard greens, smoked pork belly, cornbread, and fried egg is something I long to try.  And, the fact that they have Rum Cake on the menu is all the reason I need to visit.

catch nycCatch – They just opened a Miami location, but the NYC location is what’s calling to me.  This seafood wonder is spear-headed by Top Chef winner Hung Huynh, which should be all the evidence you need that this place is worth your time.  Put me down for the Sauteed Snapper (with Lobster Mash, Truffle, and Lemon Brown-Butter); White Mussels; Red Mussels; Baked Shrimp (with Olive Oil, Garlic, Country Bread); and Macaroni and Lobster Cream (with Mascarpone and Breadcrumbs).  And, as far as their dessert menu goes, I pretty much want every single thing on it.  The S’mores Pizza with Burnt Marshmallow Ice Cream, Fresh Baked Cookie Bucket, Peanut Butter Cup Souffle with Peanut Butter Cup Popsicles, Pumpkin Pie Donut with Spiced Ice Cream, and the Banana Brulee Split.  Hey, I may just need to go and throw myself a dessert party.

sunny palaceSunny Palace Restaurant – Though they have a full menu, I really just want to go there for the Authentic Hong Kong-Style Dim Sum.  Set in East Brunswick, NJ, their weekend Dim Sum is what draws me in.  Though I’ve never tried their food before, I’m a sucker for Dim Sum and can’t wait to sink my teeth in.

peacock alleyPeacock Alley - In the lobby of the Waldorf Astoria in NY, this Sunday brunch is the brunch to end all brunches.  I’ve been looking for the right weekend or opportunity to go, but have yet to attend this feast.  It’s about $100 a person, but I hear it’s completely worth the price tag.  Some of the fab features include a crepe station, raw bar (with littleneck clams, lobster tails, oysters, and poached shrimp); a variety of caviar; Peking Duck; Dim Sum; several salads; Imported and Domestic cheeses; every meat and fish imagineable; Croissant Bread Pudding; many breakfast items; and the Chef’s vast selection of desserts.  This list doesn’t even begin to describe the spread.

grease trucksGrease Trucks – Featured on Man V. Food, I’m fortunate enough to have this Rutgers University staple only 15 – 20 minutes from me.  Permanently parked in a lot on College Avenue in New Brunswick, these babies are stocked with made-to-order sandwiches like the Fat Cat, Fat Russian, Fat B*tch, Fat Elvis, Fat Fellatio, Fat Blunt, Fat Soprano, and many more.  My fat sandwich of choice is the Fat Koko, which houses cheesesteak, mozzarella sticks, french fries, and marinara sauce.  But, I usually substitue the marinara for ketchup.  Thats just a glimpse into the crazy combinations that make up these famous fat-wiches.  They even have a whole menu of Veggie sandwiches now.  And, if you eat 5 famous fat sandwiches in 45 minutes, you can create your own sandwich to be shown on the Grease Trucks menu.  They sell many other food items besides the fat sandwiches, but the fat sandwich is what you go to Grease Trucks for in the first place.  Obviously you shouldn’t indulge in these messes all the time, but every once in a while, ya need a Fat Koko from the Grease Trucks.

black and blue steak and crabBlack and Blue Steak & Crab – In the Williamsville area of Buffalo, NY.  As a few of my best friends have moved to the Buffalo area, I’m making it a point to go out there and visit this year.  One of my girlfriends (Kelly) was talking about how she’s been wanting to eat here for months, since she passes it all the time, just as I was looking it up online.  I was pleasantly surprised by their selection and can’t wait to dig into their lobster fritters, sweet potato dumplings, crab & lobster fondue, and kobe burger.  Drool…

russell's chopsRussell’s Steaks, Chops, and More - I hear this restaurant is one worth the calories also and, after going over the menu, the prices are definitely pretty good for what’s served.  I’m obsessing over the Artichokes Francaise, Lobster Mac and Cheese, and Asparagus Fennel Risotto.  I do have to say, though, that the part of the menu making me do back flips is the Signature Filets section.  You can choose from five different filet mignons including the Artichoke Asiago Crusted Filet, the Steak in a Nest (10 oz. filet wrapped in prosciutto and topped with gorgonzola), and the Filet Neptune (charbroiled and topped with a butter-poached Australian lobster tail, asparagus, and bearnaise).  Why am I not in Buffalo right now?!

rivoli'sRivoli’s – You may have seen this place featured on MTV’s Jersey Shore show a million times, but this restaurant isn’t just shore fluff.  Out of curiosity, I looked up their website a while back and discovered that Rivoli’s has some seriously savory cuisine that’s more than just your average Italian fare.  To start, I  absolutely want the Rivoli’s Sampler: a combination of fried calamari, mozzarella en corozza, fried raviolis, tomato brochette and mozzarella sticks.  But, what should I have for my main course? The Seafood Rivoli (fresh shrimp, scallops and lobster tail sautéed with mushrooms, artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes then finished in olive oil, garlic, basil and white wine over whole wheat spaghetti); Salmon Soprano (salmon, shrimp and mussels sautéed in olive oil, garlic and basil then finished in a light plum tomato sauce over angel hair pasta); Parmigian Sampler (chicken, veal, shrimp and eggplant Parmigian served over linguine); or the Chicken Felicia (chicken breast stuffed with broccoli, cheddar, mozzarella and Romano cheese breaded and baked then topped with an oven roasted garlic Romano cheese sauce served with cheese raviolis)?

triumph breweryTriumph Brewery – Though I’ve frequented two of their three locations, it’s the Princeton one that really gets me going.  It’s basically an upscale pub.  Anyway, I’m obsessed with their Epic Burger, which is topped with pork belly, caramelized onion, fried egg, truffle aioli, mornay sauce, pickle, and comes with a side of fries.  Additional food options that I’m a fan of are the macaroni & cheese (topped with chicken, prosciutto, mornay, poached egg, and mustard bread crumbs); grilled cheese and soup (made with oven-roasted tomato, caramelized onion, gouda, cheddar, and sourdough); and fish and chips (beer battered maine cod, cole slaw, tartar, and fries).  I also hear the tuna sashimi, mushroom bruschetta, barbecued short rib taco, rainbow trout, vegetarian piccata, and pineland farms grass-fed ribeye with truffle mashed potatoes are pretty awesome. Their house-made beer sampler is worth getting as well.

bagatelleBagatelle – Each January, my girlfriend Cindy has her birthday at Bagatelle for their crazy NYC brunches.  You dance on chairs with flashing lights, club music, and bottles adorned with flaming sparklers.  It’s a super fun.  They also have a Vegas location now, for those of you not on the East Coast.  So, what should I get this time?  The Bruschetta Chaude de Tomate et Mozzarella de Bufala, the Nutella and Peanut Butter Pancakes, Le Croque Madame… these are three items I haven’t tried yet.

red cadillacThe Red Cadillac Tacos & Tequila – As a huge Mexican food fan, this place is definitely on my radar.  Ever since my girlfriend Cathy told me about this place in Union, NJ, it’s all I think about.  Dying to try their enchiladas and queso dip.  I’ll start with their Shrimp In Garlic, indulge in the Chicken Enchiladas, and sip on some White Sangria.  One thing they’re known for is their infused tequilas.  Choose from flavors including but not limited to banana, red hots, pear, pb & jelly, jalapeno, coconut, blueberry, and kafe.

2010_11_darbyinsideThe Darby – With a menu cooked by Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli, I’ve heard this place is fabulous.  From the decor to the atmosphere, to the service and food… It’s definitely a posh spot in NYC.  It’s no wonder The Darby draws in celebrities and entertainers from all over.  I’m down to try the Burrata Cheese with Oven-Dried Tomatoes, the All-Natural Chicken Breast with Parsley Pesto, and the Flourless Chocolate Torte with fresh cherries and Dark Rum.

viva mexicoViva Mexico – Located in Flemington, NJ, I heard about this place from my hair stylist.  I’ve gotten takeout from here twice, but would love to sit down and have a real meal there.  It’s extremely authentic Mexican food… positively incredible.  Their quesadillas are fried in almost a sealed envelope, somewhat like an empanada, and filled with cheesy goodness.  I’m not a big salsa person, but my stylist raves that it’s insanely good and very spicy!

hardgrove cafeHardgrove Cafe – This Cuban fusion dive is located on Grove Street in the heart of Jersey City.  I’ve been coming here for years with my business partner Yvonne and I are addicted.  I usually get a cone of their fries as an appetizer, but I ALWAYS get the Creamy Garlic Shrimp.  It’s Jumbo Prawns sauteed in a savory cream-based garlic sauce, served with a choice of rice and beans or potato and seasonal vegetables.  Between you and me though, this dish used to also have salmon in it and it was sooooooo gooooooood.  I must confess that I do miss the salmon, but I am still all about this dish!  Their Yuca fries are pretty awesome too.

club a steakhouseClub A Steakhouse – This menu is packed with inspirational dishes.  I don’t know where to begin.  But….. I’m gonna try anyway.  Oven-Roasted Chilean Sea Bass, Famous Three Claw Lobster (which I’d love to be educated more in), Sherry & Aged Gruyere Onion Soup, 5 Cheeses Truffle “Mac”, Triple Colorado Lamb Chop, and German Style Hash Brown… One word: Yum.

giovannasGiovanna’s Restaurant – Plainfield, NJ has been hiding this Italian eatery from me.  I’d love to take part in their dining experience with foods like the Shrimp Salmtimbocca appetizer (filled with provolone and wrapped with prosciutto, baked and served on garlic spinach); Slo Duck (slow-roasted for 8 hours – topped with orange sauce), Filetto con Gorgonzola (filet mignon rubbed with black peppercorns, pan-seared, and topped with a brandy-gorgonzola cream sauce), Lobster and Shrimp Francaise (egg-battered and sauteed in a lemon white sauce served on garlic spinach), and Flounder Oreganato (fillet of flounder toped with oregano-flavored breadcrumbs).

first crushFirst Crush – Aside from the hot name, the menu from this San Francisco restaurant offers creative and appetizing dishes to satisfy your palette.  I really think it’s the small plates that have me swooning… like the Maine Lobster Mac & Cheese, Watermelon & Heirloom Tomato Salad, Organic Idaho Russet Potato Gnocchi, Lobster Ravioli, Dungeness Crab Cake Sliders, and more.

le cirqueLe Cirque – My somewhat pricey home away from home in NYC.  Whether I’m eating the sliders and shoestring fries on the cafe side (which is equally as fab), or I’m dining in the main room on their Lobster Risotto and Scottish Salmon, I am Le Cirque all the way.

stkSTK – Dear STK, Have I told you lately that I love you?  Atlanta, London, New York, LA, Vegas, and Miami all have the pleasure.  I love STK.  Their complimentary sourdough monkey bread is to die for and that’s before I’ve even looked at the menu.  First of all, their mussels are beyond amazing and HUGE as well.  I love their Lil’ Brgrs, Spiced Duck Breast, the Lobster Cobb Salad, and their steaks of course.  Oh, and I have to talk about their desserts that I’m dying to try: Birthday Cake (almond torte, cookie dough ice cream, vanilla rum butter cream); Sticky Bun Bread Pudding; Carnival Menage A Trois (caramel corn, cotton candy, mini funnel cake); Molten Chocolate S’mores; Donuts (cinnamon anglaise, butterscotch, and marshmallow)… I need a cold shower now.

lombardi'sLombardi’s Pizza – America’s first pizzeria and it’s in NYC.  It’s straight-up amazing and awe-worthy.  Cash only for this old school place, so leave the credit cards at home.  My favorite choice is the Original pizza with ricotta on top.  Everything is homemade and is addicting.  One thing I haven’t tried is their bruschetta.  Every time I see someone eating those mountains of diced tomatoes, I salvate, but am usually overtaken by their one-of-a-kind pizza.

avenueAvenue – This shore spot for upscale dining doubles as somewhat of a club at night.  Sitting on a small boardwalk in the heart of Long Branch, NJ, Avenue has gorgeous ambience, stellar service, and fantastic food.  One thing I love is their Mussel Mondays: All You Can Eat Mussels with French Fries and Stella Artois for only $19.00.  Insane.

mussel-potMussel Pot - While we’re on the subject on Mussels, let’s talk about NYC’s Mussel Pot.  I’ve been here once and it was delicious.  Sure, they have things besides mussels, but let’s get real.  You come here for the mussels.  Order from a menu of over a dozen variations from the Lobster Bisque Mussels (marinated in sherry, brandy, baby shrimp, peas, shallots, lobster, and crawfish meat) to the Pesto Mussels (marinated in basil, pine nuts, parmesan, olive oil, and garlic cream) to the Chef’s Best (lobster, cheese fondue, hard-smoked bacon, and roasted wild mushrooms).  Okay, now I’m hungry.

barnaclefrontBarnacle Bill’s – My boyfriend told me about this place in Rumson, NJ, and the night we tried to go, it was so packed we didn’t have a prayer of getting served.  I’m determined to eat there this year.  It’s not a flashy place, small and right on the water with a typical seafood restaurant menu.  But, it’s always filled with happy eaters and I hear nothing but great things about it!

charleyys ocean grillCharley’s Ocean Grill – This recently renovated restaurant in Long Branch is great for casual dining or even a date.  I threw a surprise birthday dinner here and was pleased to say the least.  It’s reasonably priced and quite delicious.  Try the Roasted Mussels, Lobster Ravioli topped with Crab Meat, any of the Grilled Flatbread Pizzas, the Jersey Burger served on a Colossal English Muffin, and Sweet Potato Tots.  I can’t wait to go back and sink my teeth into one of these.

oceana restaurantOceana Restaurant - I want to go here so bad.  It’s in NYC and the menu looks fantastic.  My eyes went straight to the desserts with all their homemade ice creams and sorbets.  I’m definitely going to need to try the Pear Hibiscus Sorbet, Tarragon Sorbet, and the Jasmine Tea Ice Cream.  As for the regular menu, I’m down for the Shrimp and Pumpkin Risotto, Crispy Wild Striped Bass, and the Spiced Pumpkin side dish.

oceana grillOceana Grill – I know I just mentioned the Oceana Restaurant, but now I’m onto the Oceana Grill in Stirling, NJ.  I could go for their Prosciutto, Sliced Pears, & Parmesan Cheese Appetizer right now… I don’t remember how I heard about this place, but, regardless of that, I want to give it a go at some point.  Since it’s not too far from me and they have courses like the Shrimp & Roasted Tomato Risotto, Pappardelle Vodka, Tyropitakia, Stuffed Shrimp over Brown Rice, and Spanakopita, I need to go.  I also wouldn’t mind going there just for dessert… Peanut Butter Banana Gelato, Basil Gelato, Campari Grapefruit Sorbet, and Blackberry Cabernet Sorbet, HELLO!!!!!!!!!

2 tk1207 FARRELLSocial - For years, this local spot was an old Italian restaurant.  This contemporary eatery just opened a few months ago and a girlfriend of mine works there.  She says the food is beyond delicious.  Going over the menu, I have to agree that it looks just as she described: Artichoke & Goat Cheese Dip, Butter-Poached Lobster Campanelle, Truffle Fries, Broiled Tilapia with a Pistachio Crust, and Braised Chicken Meatballs in a Truffle Gravy with Ricotta to name a few.

fire n oakFire & Oak – Located in Jersey City, NJ.  This spot is fab for any kind of dining, but I’m going there for a belated Secret Santa brunch with girlfriends.  I’m definitely in the market for their Parmesan Truffle Fries, their massive Fire & Oak sampler that’s not on the menu, and some great ambience.

tuskTusk – A restaurant slash lounge in Montgomery, NJ that caters to Vegans as well as us meat-cravers.  Friends of mine go here a lot because their buddy owns it, but I still haven’t been there.  After going over the menu, though, some things that definitely stand out to me are the Lobster Spring Rolls, Peking Duck Quesadilla, Steak Crostini, Fresh Watermelon Salad, Seafood Scampi with Tiger Shrimp and Lumb Crabmeat, Truffle Mashed Potatoes, Fire Cracker Lobster Fried Rice, Lobster Quesadilla, Thai Basil Chicken, Roast Duck Breast, Fresh Fruit Bruschetta, Tropical Crunch Waffles, and the Panko Crusted Scottish Salmon with Capellini and egg yolk sauce.  I just wish I could see the dessert menu on their website!  Nonetheless, everything just sounds amazing and I love the creativity with the dishes!  Excited to eat there hopefully soon!

tim schafers1Tim Schafer’s Cuisine – This Morristown, NJ restaurant features not only the regular lunch and dinner menus, but prix fixes and even a buffet lunch too.  The appetizers consist of choices such as the Semi-Boneless Quail, Lobster Ravioli, Baked Brie in a Toasted Nut Crust, and their famous Flash Fried Calamari.  As far as the entrees, you can feast on meals like the Kettle Cooked “Short Ribs of Beef”, Roasted Long Island Duckling, or Creole Jambalaya.

west five supperclubWest Five’s Supperclub – I hear this Hoboken hot spot is great for nightlife or dining out.  And, their menu is awesome, particularly the Specialty Cocktail side, which features drinks with sexy names like Fetish, Lust, Rapture, Urge, and Entice.  Plus, I’m all about trying their Guinness Battered Shrimp Tempura, Philly Cheesesteak Empanadas, Chicken Caesar Cups, Mini Bison Burgers, Arrancini, and Boarwalk Style Fried Oreos.

dos caminosDos Caminos – I am a HUGE Dos Caminos fan… HUGE!  I’m in love with their enchiladas and get them any chance I can.  Love. Love. I’ve eaten at several of their locations probably a hundred times.  I’ve yet to try their brunch, though, which would be nice.  Their Mexican French Toast with Rum and Caramel Roasted Bananas, Breakfast Quesadilla, and Beef Brisket Breakfast Tacos sound incredible.

avasssAva’s Cupcakes –  When I was watching TV the other day, Ava’s Cupcakes came on and I saw they were located in Rockaway, NJ.  You may have seen them featured on Cupcake Wars.  Even so, this place isn’t just about desserts.  They have savory cupcakes like the 5 Cheese Mac ‘N Cheese Cupcake and the Bourbon BBQ Pulled Pork Cupcake.  But, I do have to talk about their cupcakes (hence the “Ava’s Cupcakes” title)… I’m going to have to try have their menu.  Some of their fab cupcakes include the Hot Chocolate, Caramel Cinnamon Banana, Pumpkin Cinnamon Apple, Banana Split, Rootbeer Float, Snickers, Pink Champagne and Strawberries, Caramel Cream Stout, Guiness, Beer ‘N Pretzels, Chocolate Cookie Dough, S’mores, Oreo Madness, and Red Velvet.  YUMMMMMMMMMM!

robert'sRobert’s Steakhouse – Inside the Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City, this new steakhouse has recently opened.  I’ve yet to try it, but am looking forward to it.  I’m especially curious to know what the Chef’s Specialty Soup may be.  And, I love that they have six sauces to choose from for their steaks.  They also have some fun menu items like the Beer Battered Onion Rings with malt vinegar and bacon blue cheese, Everything French Fries with smoked paprika aioli, and Robert’s Melt Down (chocolate chip cookie on top of a mudslide brownie Maker’s Mark ice cream).  I’m also definitely jonesin’ for their Black Fig sorbet.

Totonno’s Pizza – Said to be the best pizza in Brooklyn, this Coney Island spot. I’d like to see if it’s true…. Hoping they will recover from the store and re-open!!!  Let’s pray!
